Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage for men who train.
Real pressure where your muscles need repair, delivered so your body accepts it instead of bracing against it.
Deep tissue massage has a reputation problem. Half the men I see expect an hour of elbows and bruises, because that is what they got the last time somebody sold them "deep." That is not what happens here, and it is not what deep tissue is supposed to be.
What deep tissue actually means
Deep tissue work targets the layers of muscle and fascia beneath the surface, using slower strokes and sustained, specific pressure instead of the light gliding of a spa massage. The goal is to release the dense, ropey tension that builds where you work and where you train: the upper back and shoulders, the lower back, the glutes, the hamstrings, the calves, the neck.
The part most places get wrong is the delivery. If pressure arrives faster than your body can accept it, you brace, and a braced muscle cannot release. Real deep tissue is built up gradually and checked constantly, so your body stays open the whole way through.
Who it is for
- Men who lift. Heavy pressing and pulling leave the shoulders, lats, and upper back dense. Deep tissue clears what foam rolling only grazes.
- Runners and cyclists. Calves, hamstrings, hip flexors, and IT bands respond well to sustained, specific pressure.
- Desk professionals. Eight or more seated hours a day shortens the hip flexors and locks the neck and upper back. This is the most common complaint I hear in Washington.
- Anyone carrying an old, nagging tightness that stretching alone has never resolved.
How the pressure works here
Every session blends deep tissue with genuinely relaxing work. I go deep where your muscles need repair and stay slow and easy everywhere else, which is what lets your nervous system stay switched off while the deep work happens. Pressure is checked and adjusted throughout, and "a little lighter" is always a perfectly good answer.
You may feel worked the next day after a very deep session, the way a good training day feels. You should not feel bruised or beaten up. If you do, the massage was done to you rather than for you.
Sessions and pricing
Deep tissue is included in every session; there is no upcharge and no menu to decode. The Half Hour ($70) goes straight to your worst area. The Hour ($110) is the sweet spot and where most men land. The Ninety ($150) covers every muscle group at real depth with time to come down slowly afterward. Full details are on the sessions and rates page.
